John B. Long
John Benjamin Long (September 8, 1843 - April 27, 1924) was a U.S. Representative from Texas.
Born in Douglass, Texas, Long moved with his parents to Rusk, Texas, in 1846.
He was educated in private schools.
During the Civil War served in the Confederate States Army in Company C, Third Texas Cavalry.
He studied law.
He was admitted to the bar but never practiced.
He became a planter.
Long was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-second Congress (March 4, 1891-March 3, 1893).
He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1892.
He engaged in the newspaper business in Rusk, Texas from 1886 to 1905.
He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1913 and 1914.
He died in Rusk, Texas, April 27, 1924.
He was interred in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
